Our Instructors
Brian Toal
Brian’s experience with firearms evolved during his distinguished career in law enforcement, retiring after 31 years at the rank of captain from a large municipal police department in NJ. During his tenure, Brian was his department’s training coordinator, supervising firearms instructor, and armorer, as well as a PTC certified Rangemaster. He was instrumental in the formation of the department’s High Risk Entry Team where he served as the trainer, team leader and ultimately the team commander.
Brian developed his expertise through hundreds of tactical operations as well as thousands of hours teaching firearms skills and tactics within his department, the police academy, or one of the surrounding agencies. Brian has pursued advanced firearms and tactical training across the country, including armorers’ courses for Glock, H&K, Colt, Sig Sauer, Remington, and many others. Outside of work, Brian has pursued his passion by participating in various competitive shooting events, all over the northeastern United States. Along with his wife and children, Brian enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing. Teaching and coaching young and new shooters, seasoned tactical operators, as well as competitive shooters is a passion Brian continues to cultivate.
Edward Crawford
Ed is a recently Retired Police Officer from a large South Jersey Police Department where he served as the Training Coordinator, Accreditation Manager, and Supervising Firearms Instructor. Early on in his career he became involved in Firearms Training and served on the departments High Risk Entry Team working his way up to Team Leader. Ed is a New Jersey Police Training Commission Firearms Instructor / Rangemaster and instructs on the use of Handgun, Shotgun, Sub-Machine Gun and Assault Rifle. He is a certified Armorer for Glock, Colt, Benelli, Mossberg and Springfield Armory. Ed is a Taser, Less-Lethal Impact Weapon and Use of Force instructor. Throughout his career he attended various instructor development courses. He Enjoys various shooting sports including Skeet Shooting, Sporting Clays, High Power and Smallbore Rifle. When he is not working he likes to hunt, fish, hike and other outdoor activities with his wife and children. All of them have earned NRA Smallbore Shooting Awards including Distinguished Expert Awards. He enjoys coaching new shooters including children.
John Petroski
With over 25 years in in Law Enforcement, currently serving in the rank of Sergeant, John has been a Firearms & Tactical Instructor for local and county agencies. He was in integral part of two different High Risk Warrant Teams where he was an operator, sniper, instructor, and assistant team leader. John became his agencies’ Supervising Firearms instructor, assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force for training, chasing down some of the Country’s most violent offenders. John’s predominant Law Enforcement experience has been in investigations – including Major Crimes, Narcotics and Fugitives. As an avid outdoorsman, John enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking with his Weimaraner dog.
